Grocery Worker Finds Man Laying In Freezer. When Police Arrive, They Can't Believe Who It Is

Late into her shift at the local grocery store, Emily was restocking the freezer section when she stumbled upon an unthinkable sight — a man lying motionless among the frozen goods. Her scream echoed off the cold walls, quickly turning into a call for help.

The arrival of the police transformed the store into a scene of bewilderment and urgency, especially when they recognized the man in the freezer, a revelation that left everyone present in disbelief.

It was a sight you usually only hope to see on TV. There, in one of the freezers of the local grocery store, lay a man. The moment Emily had spotted the man still haunts her mind. She had been busy restocking the freezer in the late hours of Wednesday afternoon, close to closing time, when she suddenly spotted something inside the freezer…

Emily didn’t recognize the object inside at first glance, but as her eyes lingered on the freezer, the eerie realization set in. There was actually a human inside the freezer, lying there motionless! The sound of her scream echoed through the store, and she fell to her knees in disbelief, hiding her eyes with her hands. “Someone, HELP!” she yelled.

Emily’s colleagues quickly ran to her aid, not knowing what they would find. As they turned into the aisle of frozen goods, stopped. “Emily?” she heard her manager say. “What’s going on?” His voice had a slight tremor, indicating he, too, had seen the man inside the freezer. “Someone, please, help this man! Call 911!” Emily cried. Tears streamed down her face as she sat there on the ground.

She was too scared to look up from her hands, fearing she would see the motionless man again, but she could hear more and more people around her. Suddenly, she felt a hand on her arm. Emily visibly shook from shock, but before she could say anything, she was pulled up and away from the man. “Emily, the police want to talk to you.”

Emily finally looked up from her hands and stared into the faces of three police officers. She looked around her bewilderedly and saw how the grocery store suddenly looked eerily empty. “Where is everyone?” Emily confusedly asked. “We need to know what had happened, Emily,” one of the officers said. “It’s very important that you tell us everything, Emily.”

Emily looked at the officers with watery eyes. She was in a state of shock and barely got any words out. “A man… Inside the freezer… he… I…he looked so…” and then she began to cry again. The officers looked at each other. Emily was their key witness; they needed her. She was the one who found the man in the freezer and who saw the most of him.

They guided Emily to another room and gave her some water to help calm her down. Meanwhile, Officer Trench was at the aisle of frozen goods, stumped by what he found. “Do you know who this man is?” he asked one of his colleagues, obviously dumbfounded. His colleague shook his head. “I have no idea, do you?” his colleague asked him.

Sadly, I do,” Officer Trench said with a sigh. He wanted to say more, but he was interrupted by hospital personnel rushing by. They had lifted the man out of the freezer and were now examining him closely. Officer Trench noticed how they didn’t immediately place a white blanket over the man, indicating he could still be alive. 

“Who is it?” his colleague asked. Officer Trench was ready to answer, but he was interrupted yet again, this time by another colleague. “Trench, we need you in the room with Emily.” Officer Trench nodded and followed the man back to the room where Emily was. As soon as he walked in, he noticed a change in her demeanor. “I’m ready to talk.”

Officer Trench sat down opposite Emily and gave her a reassuring smile. “That’s good to hear, Emily. Now, at your own pace, please walk me through what happened.” Emily sighed and looked at the water cup in her hands. “Well, I was refilling the freezer and had been alone in that aisle for at least twenty minutes. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary until I saw that man…”

“Thank you, Emily. You’re doing great,” Officer Trench reassured her. Emily continued, “The man looked very pale, and it even looked like he had blue lips!” she paused for a second, trying not to burst out in tears again. “Did you recognize the man from anywhere?” Officer Trench suddenly asked. Emily frowned. “Uhm, not that I can remember. Should I have?”

Officer Trench looked at his colleague and told Emily they would be back in a few minutes. “Can I get you anything else?” he asked her as he got up, but Emily shook her head. Officer Trench and his colleague went into another room where they could talk in private. “I need to tell you something about the man,” Officer Trench’s colleague said.

“Do you know who he is?” Officer Trench asked confusedly. “Yes, Sir,” his colleague said. “Listen, Dereck, before you say anything else, we need to proceed with caution. We need to keep this man’s identity out of the media for as long as possible,” Officer Trench said with a serious look on his face. Officer Dereck nodded silently. “You can count on me.”
