When I noticed the dog on the side of the road, I couldn't help but stop the car and take a closer look. Its poor eyes were barely visible beneath his inflamed skin. I knew I had to take him to a vet, so I loaded him in my car. At the vet, I watched him examine the dog, probing around the swollen areas. Suddenly, the vet froze as his expression darkened. "Miss, I need you to leave the room," he said, ushering me out as I saw his assistant prep for surgery.

After an hour of waiting, the vet finally came back out, telling me something I could never have imagined...

I hopped out of the car, moving closer to the dog. It didn’t run away, which was a good sign. I gently reached out, and it seemed to trust me. Its brown eyes looked so tired. Without wasting more time, I carefully lifted the Labrador. It was heavier than I thought, but no way was I leaving it behind. I placed it in the backseat, hoping it would feel safe there.

A Sigh Of Relief

Sitting in the car, the Labrador let out a small whimper. I patted its head gently to let it know everything would be okay. It didn’t seem to mind the car much. In fact, it looked a tiny bit relieved to be off its feet. I wondered how long it had been out there. The way it settled down, resting its head on the seat, was a good sign.

Careful Drive

With the dog in the car, I started driving carefully down the road. I didn’t want any sudden moves to scare the poor creature. Every now and then, I glanced back to check if he was doing alright. The swollen face still worried me. I just tried to drive as smoothly as possible, thinking about the vet and what they might tell me about this situation.
